911 Alzheimer's

National outrage lasted for about a month after 9/11. Let's review for those who have forgotten the worst attack in US history.

Listen to the report

(click the Listen icon on the top left of the linked article)

KOMO's Tami Michaels, and her husband, Guy Rosbrook, were in their room on the 35th floor at the Millennium Hilton Hotel in downtown Manhattan. Across a two-lane street was the World Trade Center. Tami shared her horror with the entire KOMO News audience as the terror attacks on New York City were happening live on September 11, 2001. Click the link above to read and hear the report.

Watch a superb 5th anniversary 9/11 commemorative video compilation produced by Alex Johnson from wtc911.us. This is one of the best we've seen.

It has been 8 years now. On that day, if you would have told me what the political and social climate would be like today, I would have told you you were nuts. If you would have told me an entire political party, the media, and most of the entertainment world would be doing everything in their power to undermine and destroy a president determined to fight this enemy wherever they exist, I would have told you to get professional help. Crackpot websites and conspiracy loons spout about the attacks being an "inside" job with Bush planning the whole thing to start a war to enrich Halliburton and his oil buddies. Uninformed citizens continue to drone on about weapons of mass distruction, war for oil, and "it's our own fault anyway" - all a convenient way to deny the threats we face and get back to the football game. We have newspapers leaking classified information on their front pages and pathetic politicians declaring the war "lost" - disparaging our troops and emboldening our enemies. And the kicker? We've just elected a president who vowed in his campaign to take actions and make military cuts that will weaken our ability to defend the country from future attacks.
Watch the video here!

Forgotten VictimsIt's absolutely pathetic that the memory of the thousands who died that day is marred by the apathy, stupidity, and treachery of bad Americans with big bull horns and a willing media. Plus, too many are consumed by their "don't bother me" iPod lives. Where did the outrage over their deaths go? It's easier to find outrage over the treatment of slime at Guantanamo Bay than it is to find any outrage over terrorism, terrorist supporters or the harboring of terrorists. It's easier to find outrage over wire tapping terror suspects in this country than it is to find outrage over beheadings of fellow citizens. It's easier to find outrage over Christmas displays than it is to find outrage over Russia sending warships just south of our border and directly supporting our enemies. It's easier to find outrage over military recruiting at Berkeley than it is to find outrage over Iran's growing nuclear capabilities and threats to wipe out Israel and the rest of the Western world. We're stuck in some kind of sick twilight zone with the patients now in charge of the asylum. Iraq is going rather well now, so the war and terrorism threats in general have all but disappeared from the news.

Wack Job ExtraordinaireThe security challenges facing America for the foreseeable future will be some of the most difficult the country has ever had to overcome. The enemies of free democratic societies have been allowed to flurish unchecked in their hatred for decades - long before Bush ever took office. The violence used by Islamic radicals has found its way to every corner of the globe. Most European countries would rather roll over and surrender than fight it. Russia does business with them. The events of 911 were a jewel in the crown of terrorism, but make no mistake, much bigger plans are underway. Terrorist Islamic radicals live and breath killing us 24 hours a day. It is going to require the absolute dedication and focus of our military, politicians, and citizens to defeat this. Unfortunately, the Obama stupor has just begun. We have enemies within that have to be defeated in addition to the radicals - political correctness, political posturing, appeasement, media bias, media treachery, misinformation, miseducation, apathy. Plagues that have become part of our culture have proven to be very dangerous. The election of Obama is living proof we've got a long way to go and that the democrats along with their media have been wildly successful in bamboozling over 50% of the gullable public.

The good guys will prevailThe good news? America is filled with patriots that will take up the slack for those that lack. With the exception of our very good allies like the British and Australians, most of the world will sit back and criticize and slam the U.S. when things are not going well, but will benefit greatly when we've again beaten back the forces of radical idealogies. No, Iraq didn't attack us. And no, there's no link between Iraq and the events of 911 that we know of. But contrary to what any liberal or big media hack will try to tell you, the truth was a clear pattern of terror support for decades. It's well documented. Saddam Hussein is gone, and the world should thank America for it - and in particular, our military. Heck, our economic stability is in question, and economies of the world go in the crapper. Tell me they don't depend on us!

Let us pray that it doesn't take another 911 attack to jar people out of their media coma to realize this fight is as serious as any in our history. Let us pray that the Iraq detractors shut their traps, and stop siding with the enemy which gets more of our troops killed. And let us pray that any leader elected from this point forward understands the nature of the enemy and leads with the resolve to defeat it. With the possible exception of Joe Lieberman, Zell Miller, and a few others, this excludes today's democrats - including Obama. Republicans with their new "lets work together" moderate bipartisan tone aren't far behind. The victims of 911, their families, and all Americans deserve nothing less that complete victory.
